Problem statement
BK PT customers are facing limitations and inconveniences when making payments. To address this, we aim to implement a feature that allows users to make card payments at home with a POS brought by the driver. The goal is to maintain the existing user experience avoiding impact on sales.
This feature was existing in the old platform and it represented 41% of all payments, composed by 32% on the app, 6% on the web and 3% through contact center (see below, first line “App pago con tarjeta”). It’s the main payment method and today it’s not implemented in BK PT.
Hypothesis
After the launch of the BK PT web version, has been noticed a decrease in sales of 16.000€ (after 8 days from the launch). There are several factor that could impact it and one of them could be the lack of a common payment method in the Portuguese market such as the payment with card at home, that includes the usage of MBWay.
Acceptance criteria
Available for BK PT (web and app)
Only available for delivery
Integrate with Winrest and delivery platform
DMP & Admin tool reports should be updated accordingly showing the new payment method
Easy and smooth user experience in the selection of payment method, similar to payment with cash
Solution
1) Payment by cash at home

As for now, it seems that the restaurant management tool is going to be impacted on the history of the cash flow. Need validation from DOP owners.

Note: these is a proposal for the BK PT team to avoid the development of the payment by card at home |
Considering the problem rely on TRUST, SIMPLICITY and VELOCITY, elements of the payment at home, BK PT could:
Prioritize MBWay as it’s the main online payment method in Portugal (3.5M users, 225M transactions - more here) and it’s also a fast, simple and trusted solution in the market
Offer discount codes to the users that made payment by card at home: the message should be focused on the usage of alternative payment methods
Add “pago seguro” and other logos to the payment page to make the user feel more comfortable (especially first time users)
