We group all events according to the user flow or use. In ‘Amplitude Analytics' they are named as “Category” and in 'Mparticle’ as “Tags”. The events are classified as the followed:

  • Auth Flow: Events related to the Sign UP, Sign In and Sign out flow (Sign in Complete, Sign out Complete);

  • Branch: Events that have Branch as a source;

  • CRM: Related to campaign engagements (Email Opens, bounces, etc)

  • General: Used for events related to app/nav/user states. (start session, flags evaluated, update user attributes);

  • Loyalty: Events related to Loyalty program. (transactions claimed, users created, points expiring)

  • Mkt Campaigns: Related to Ad-hoc mkt campaigns;

  • Navigation: used to understand our users interaction with clickable and viewable components (Page view);

  • Offer: events related to the Offer feature (offer selected, offer added to cart);

  • Ordering flow: related to transactional events, Add to cart, checkout, purchase;

  • Rewards: related to the reward flow in the loyalty program (reward selected, reward added to order);

  • User Action: Used to track general user actions inside the app (Button Click, Marketing Tile Click);

  • z. Deprecated: Used for events that should be replaced by new ones or are related to deprecated features. See more details here: Deprecated Events

The categorization doesn`t change the data content itself. Even for those events classify as “z.Deprecated”, nothing it`s deleted and you will continue be able to query on historical data.

PRO TIP

In ‘Amplitude Analytics', the event categorization and description also reflects in the way the events are displayed in charts and dropdowns menus.

  • You can access the descriptions direct in the chart dropdowns or in the “Govern” Menu.

In 'Mparticle', you can access the event categorization (“Tags“) and description by accessing the “Catalog Menu” (Data Master > Catalog)

  • No labels
