What is a Picker?
A picker is a higher level product concept that combines combos and/or items. On the example below, we have created a picker to compile the called “Whopper” which would be the higher level concept, then it would compile under it all the different options for a Whopper which can be : the whopper medium meal (“MEDIUM”), the whopper large meal (“LARGE”) and the whopper single item (“À LA CARTE” = ALC).
Advantage of Pickers
This way, when guests navigates to the “Flame-grilled burgers” section, they see the “Whopper” picker instead of seeing the whopper medium meal, the whopper large meal and the whopper menu item. When they click on the picker, they will choose between a large combo, a medium combo and the ALC product, and other aspects that can be configured.

Name | This is the name that will be displayed for this picker
Internal Name | This is the name that will be displayed internally inn Sanity for the picker
Image | This is the example image that will be displayed for the picker
Image Description | This will be used as the alt or aria-label attribute for the image (an alt attribute is what shows if the image is unable to load). This is required for accessibility purposes
Description | This describes the picker. Feel free to see examples from other markets for inspiration
Picker Aspects | This is an aspect of the picker that can be changed or modified. Please add choose all aspects that apply by clicking on ‘Add item…’ under Picker Aspects
Picker Default | This will be what picker aspect options are initially set as default when guest accesses the picker. In order to set them as default, you need to click on ‘Add item…’ under Picker Defaults, choose the same picker aspects you have added on ‘Picker Aspects’ and choose the option you want to set as default for each picker aspect. Note: you should have as many fields added to this section as the ones you have on the picker aspect section add asterrix
Picker Aspect Item Option Mappings | This is used to restrict a modifier from being used if the specified aspect is selected. For example, if they pick a bacon and cheese whopper we will not let them modify the bacon or the cheese Note: in EMEA, we rarely use this feature
UI Pattern | Select 'Parallel' to see our recommended UI. Feel free to change it and test it by looking at the frontend if you think it makes sense, but please be consistent across pickers
Quick Configs | These are options that the user can use to auto-populate a field. A great example of this is Tim Hortons coffee option Single Single and Double Double Note: in EMEA, we rarely use this feature
Options | Everything we would like to include in the section. If we have picker aspects we would have to map each item to each picker aspect response. Example: Picker Aspect Combo Size ( options: A la Carte, Small,Medium and Large). Picker options: Picker aspect A la Carte-> Bacon Cheeseburger item, Picker aspect Small-> Bacon Cheeseburger Meal Small, Picker aspect Medium-> Bacon Cheeseburger Meal Medium, Picker aspect Large-> Bacon Cheeseburger Meal Large. This will help us know when a user selects one or the other picker aspect to know what item to link it to.
Channel Exclusions | Here we can specify if we do not want this picker to be available on a certain platform/channel
Show Static Menu | This adds the picker to the static menu that allows the user to see a default menu without having to first select a store
Depreciated | These are fields that we have used in the past. We keep these for old versions of the site that could be cached and still used
