What is MDS?
MDS stands for Master Database Data System. It is the system that comprises all the master databases on product and restaurant data.
Several teams collaboratively work with MDS. Here are a few examples:
QA and Innovation teams use MDS to create and approve new Products or Limited Time Offers, approve suppliers, and connect each ingredient to the main product. The end result is that the master database holds information regarding the quantities (grams) of each ingredient used in a product, getting its nutrition and allergens centrally recorded, as well as its local suppliers information.
Area Franchisee Leads (AFL) and Business Development teams use MDS to create and approve new Restaurants, holding all its data, such as geolocation coordinates, address, services available (in-restaurant and digitally), etc. Several products connect to MDS to retrieve Restaurant data, such as the RAM portal used by Operations teams.
Tech and Digital teams use MDS to feed the digital products with certified information. The websites and apps connect to the master database to guarantee product information is accurate and that all sites are shown with the right characteristics. It is also on MDS that we edit Mobile Ordering data and enable restaurants to operate with Pickup, Delivery, Drive-thru, or Curbside.
