RBI Tech International - Roadmap Q3 - 2024

Roadmap Q3 2024

This section outlines the different items that our teams plan to work on during Q3 2024.

Before we cover them in detail, we’d like to give you more context on our roadmap approach.

Themes approach

We have recently started using themes as a key driver to organize our team’s quarterly work. A theme is a specific problem or opportunity that our teams will focus on during the quarter. We use themes because:

  1. Themes facilitate collaboration and communication among teams, because everyone is on the same page as to what to focus on.

  2. We can make meaningful progress in one topic, rather than small progress in many.

  3. Themes help prioritize important topics alongside urgent ones on the day-to-day.

The theme of this Q3 2024 is PLATFORM STABILITY. Focusing on our platform’s stability, we will improve the quality of our products and our efficiency.

Note that this does not mean that we won’t do any work on operator improvements or guest experience– rather, it’s a deliberate mindset to prioritize platform stability problems.

In addition, all improvement work is part of a continuous process. There will always be more improvements to work on in different areas, and we will always be re-visiting themes.

Development and Discovery

Each team has recorded a video explaining their Q3 2024 roadmap. You will see that most teams cover two main sections – development items and discovery items.

  • Development items: this is the work that markets plan to execute on during the quarter. Discovery has been performed and have a clear idea of what needs to be implemented.

  • Discovery items: our teams have identified a series of potential problems and opportunities. During the quarter, we will work on defining those items. The outcome of discovery is to have a well-defined problem, with clear success metrics and any insights to ideate solutions. Discovery items are not to be executed on in the current quarter but rather defined so that they can potentially be addressed in subsequent quarters.

Menu & Restaurant

Our Menu & Restaurant team focuses on platform stability specially to improve operations team experience through out our platforms. Based on our significant analysis over the last quarter, the majority of issues were caused by various misconfigurations. Sanity simplification and UX improvements initiatives will tackle these issues. The team will also focus on ensuring menu service is used as source of truth for pricing and remove the current dependency that relies on Restaurant POS in Sanity - this will avoid any price mismatches.

In line with the quarter’s theme, which focuses on platform stability, Menu & Restaurant also plans to work to improve CSV price upload capability on Digital Operation Portal (DOP) - this will work with the newest version of the menu service along with user experience improvements (platform simplification).

We will also work on exposing Sanity misconfigurations, which means such issues will be raised as alerts before they go live.

Additionally, the team will also work on Menu Sync improvement, standardizing and simplification thus making the whole process “self-service”. The team will work on improvement to manage PLUs of multiple Partner POS integrations in a single market which will be possible to have multiples POS connected via Partner API.

Fulfillment

Our Fulfillment team focuses on Payments Improvements and Error Code Standardization to increase Platform Stability. The team will introduce the Multi-PSP (Payment System Provider) - this will allow markets to set up new payment methods faster. Additionally, we will be adding key metrics and observability enhancements to help issue investigation. This will also allow us to measure guests Success Rate throughout the Payment Flow.

As for Error Code Standardization, the initiative consists of creating Error Code Mapping, User Friendly Error Messages, and Cleaning-Up obsolete Error Events. Additionally, our team will document existing errors for quick triaging.

Loyalty & Offers

Our Loyalty Team will be working on initiatives to not only increase Platform Stability but also to improve the Guests' and Operators' experience.

By bringing the Offers configuration to a single location in Sanity, it will be easier to configure Offers and avoid misconfigurations - this will create new possibilities to configure Offers, more simply, by using existing items and combos.

Furthermore, to provide a better Guest experience, a new Offer ruleset will be created to allow Offers to be configured using Guest’s attributes such as User’s Device Battery Level, etc.

Check the video below to learn further details about our initiatives.

Users & CRM

Users & CRM Team Stability work consists of reviewing existing Properties and Events - following this, our goal is to arrive at a standard data plan. A few examples of this work: Unifying Sign In & Sign Up events, moving and renaming event properties correctly.

The team will also work on a compliance requirement to allow users to change email within their accounts. Additionally, the team will strengthen platform monitoring to push for better stability.

Core Front-End

During this Quarter, the Core FrontEnd (FE) team is focused on SEO and Stability.

To help manage SEO requirements, our Core FE team is currently working on the Google Search Console Access to ensure better access controls to various stakeholders.

The team will also work on enhancing UI components and setting unit tests to drive better error prevention.

Core Back-End

Focusing on this quarter’s theme of “Platform Stability”, our Core BackEnd (BE) team is working on enhancing the System Building and Deploying processes, in an effort to push for better platform performance.

The team is also working on Discovery Opportunities to improve security in our platforms.

Core Data

Our Core Data Team is focused on enhancing Data Capabilities and Customer Insights. Our team is currently working on Offline Data Integration into our Analytics Platform(s) to bring valuable insights about customer behavior outside our application.

Another initiative to expand customer insights is to apply the RFM Model (Recency, Frequency, Monetary) to markets without Loyalty programs.

To support these efforts, our Core Data Team is investing in Data Infrastructure, automating data monitoring, and expanding data collection to include guest experience data, such as online reviews.
Key improvements summarised:

  • Data integration: Connecting offline data to analytics for a broader business view.

  • Customer insights: Expanding RFM model to non-loyalty markets.

  • Data infrastructure: Building a solid data system for faster feature deployment and automated monitoring.

  • Data collection: Gathering guest experience data through online reviews.
