mParticle Facebook Integration

mParticle, as the customer data platform, supports a number of integrations with third-party marketing platforms, including Facebook.

“Activating this integration will enable Facebook to perform ad tracking and attribution for your Facebook campaigns, by causing mParticle to forward app event data to Facebook.”

There are three possible types of integration. Please note that mParticle’s Facebook integration is not used to enable ‘Facebook Login’ on the app. Details on enabling ‘Facebook Login’ are available here.

Event tracking

“The event tracking integration enables conversion tracking for Facebook advertising campaigns.”

To send events server-side, as recommended by mParticle and RBI, a Facebook Pixel S2S connection needs to be created by the franchisee and the Pixel ID shared with mParticle.

Audience

“The mParticle Facebook Audiences integration allows you to forward mParticle audience data directly to a Facebook Ads Manager account for use with Facebook Custom Audiences, making it easy to target existing or prospective customers.”

To enable this integration, a Facebook Ad account needs to be set up by the franchisee and the Facebook Application ID and Secret shared with mParticle. Further instructions on the steps to complete in your Facebook account and the configuration options in mParticle are available here.

Facebook Offline Conversions

This integration supports forwarding commerce events to Facebook’s Offline Conversions API.

To send events to Facebook’s Offline Conversions API, the following steps are required

  • A custom feed must be added in mParticle as the source of commerce events occurring outside of your app, mParticle can support on this

  • A Facebook access token has to be generated and shared with mParticle as per Facebook’s Conversions API documentation

  • A Dataset needs to be created in Facebook Events Manager and the Dataset ID shared with mParticle, see here for further details
