How to test transactional emails in Braze

Searching in Braze and discussing internally, there is some steps to test every email template modification.

  1. It is recommended to always create the template on the test environment of Braze, and activating there to be able to fully test in staging before creating the template in production.

Below I'll show how to test the templates in prod and how to migrate the ones already set up for the test environment:

  1. You can test the email template by sending it to your account.
Even in draft by choosing one draft template :

    Clicking on preview and test:

Choosing the section Test Send, puting the email you want to receive the test on "Add Individual Users" and clicking on "Send Test".

By doing this, you will be able to validate the format of the template.

  2. To perform more advanced tests, I really advise you to start the templates in the test environment or to copy the templates from the prod environment to the test one by clicking on the gear next to the last edited column and then choosing copy to workspace:

Click in "next" in the pop up which will open and then choose the PLK_ES Development to be able to test the template in the staging environment:

Then, it's necessary to save the copied template as a draft on the test environment and to activate it there.
While composing this email I have already copied the cancellation email template from prod to staging:

Activating the template, it will be possible of testing it in each language of the website on a normal scenario in staging. It's only testing on every language that we can ensure it's working properly.
